A few words about

What We Do

Integrated Natural Resource Management

Lands are subject to uncontrollable water and wind breakdown. Excessive use of chemicals in agriculture creates insufficient replacement of soil organic matter and nutrients coupled with overgrazing, land-clearing and loss of vegetative cover making them more vulnerable. Unsustainable land use and poor management attributes to salinization of available water. The status of Groundwater is grossly depleting but still this has to gain attention here in drought prone areas. Land degradation, soil erosion, water unavailability and desertification on such a scale contribute to chronic poverty, hunger, and conflict which are a very much common here. Understanding the depth of problem, organization aims at attaining social economic development and ensuring optimum utilization of available land and water resources through our multiple land and water based projects and identified approaches: • Checking soil erosion and water runoff. • Harnessing ephemeral rivers available water resources. • Rain water harvesting and conservation • Use of low cost, eco-friendly and appropriate technology. • Development of green belt. • Implementation through community participation. Organization has always focused on an inclusive growth and betterment of the most mindful asset of this universe in cooperation with the land, water and forest conservation and our approach helps us improving the social and economic status of the community.

Education and capacity building Under Rights & Entitlement

MSUS goals at educating the community and developing their inherent skills to the level through various training, workshops, seminars, exposure visits, orientation programmes, etc. Besides increasing the livelihood sources for the area, education also addresses the cause and impacts of various social taboos those are prevalent in that community and arose because of lack of education and awareness like: • Child marriage which directly checks the problem of sexual reproductive health and rights. • Gender inequality • Developed self-confidence with behavioral and attitudinal change. • Sustainable benefits through income generation activities • Improved literacy level in the society. The organization, itself as a learning body, keeps on collecting the information/ news going around, synthesize it and then disseminate it to the target people. The awareness and the learning facilitate the liquidity of financial resources for economic self-reliance among the community.

Social reforms and women empowerment

“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman." Yes, women are the real architects of society yet their efforts are never recognized. MSUS strongly believes in equal participation of feminine gender into any activity of the society, they are just need to be tuned right. This will help improving social status and ensuring equal participation of women in decision making process at all by making them aware of their rights and duties with involving community in social reform process. The approaches that the organization follows for this determined goal are motivating and encouraging women’s community based institutions to take initiatives and evolve as a whole through sustained group action. The impact that organization expects from its steps taken are: • Better Socio-economic condition. • Socio-justice and economic equity. • Comparatively improved status in the society. • Control over social evils and superstitions

Agriculture Management

Organization with the help of scientists has identified a wide range of land and water management practices that can address land degradation and increase long- term agricultural productivity. The benefits of these improved land and water management to farmers and rural economies include higher crop yields, increased supplies of other valuable goods such as firewood and fodder, increased income and employment opportunities, and increased resilience to climate change. These benefits occur because of the improved land and water management practices: • Increase soil organic matter • Improve soil structure • Reduce soil erosion • Increase water filtration • Increase efficiency of water use

Health and Hygiene

Community Health is a process of enabling people to exercise collectively their responsibilities to their own health and to demand health as their right. MSUS has been working at developing a strong evidence base for public health, by addressing important public health questions The organization focusses on to create and increase awareness on Community Health among all people in health sector through advocacy, communications and campaigning. MSUS has always strived to reach last man of the last village and have tried ensuring their reach to their health rights and have organized several medical camps like leprosy eradication, malaria eradication, AIDS awareness, basic health awareness, pulse polio drives, anemia eradication, etc with the help of District Health Department. The organization has been an active player with the district administration in containing COVID-19.

Swawlamban Initiative

Despite of so much of investment for poverty alleviation, the desired result is yet to be achieved. Looking from the bigger prospects, the basic reasons behind the backwardness are illiteracy, unemployment, debt, diseases, malnourishment, superstition & social evils, etc. resulting in the lack of awareness, unity, community ownership & leadership, poor access to entitlements and skill enhancement. Even today’s trend of development is zeroed to tangible assets only but it is useless to keep anything in a vessel except the right one. In the route of advancement, inner self-development and building the self-esteem of the villagers and their self-reliance has never been focused leading to the poverty even after several years. There is a need to invest in unification of the villages irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and gender and this initiative strives for the same.
